Today I'm sharing another of my easy recipes forkids,thisis a really simple one for frozen fruity yoghurt bites. With just a few ingredients and minimal equipment,thisrecipe couldn't be easier to make, and the yoghurt bitesmake a great healthy dessert, snack or evena fun breakfast idea!

This isa lovelyhealthyrecipe that even a toddler could make- in factif Small Baby hadn't been having a nap at the time I would definitely have got him involved too.

As always, this recipe can be adjusted to suit your tastes and needs - swap fresh fruit for alternatives of your choice(strawberries or blackberrieswould work nicely) or trydried fruits, or switch to soya yoghurt or similarif you'd like to make it dairy free.

I used natural yoghurt as a healthy optionbecause it has no added sugar, but you could use any yoghurt flavour of your choice.

I believe that teaching children to cook plays a major role in helping them build good habits for healthy eating that will last a lifetime. Cooking can help build confidence, encourage children to try new foods and of course itis a life skill that is never wasted.

This year one of my new year's resolutions is to cook more with Small Child, and to share more child friendly recipes here on the blog, in the hope that I can encourage more families to cook together and get more children comfortable in the kitchen.

To make this goal slightlymore achievable I'll bechanging the format ofmy 'Cooking with Small Child' postsslightly byleaving out the multiplestep-by-step photos,but the step-by-step instructions and free downloadable recipe sheet for your child to trywill stillbe available with every recipe in this series, and every recipe will be tested by my little chefSmall Child himself!

I used reusable silicone muffin cupsfor this project as they are sturdy and eco friendly, but you could also use paper cupcake cases if you have some you'd like to use up.It might be fun to experiment with different shaped silicone cups if you have them - why not make them star shaped for Christmas or heart shaped for Valentines day!

  • 200g Yoghurt of your choice (we used natural yoghurt)
  • Handful of fresh raspberries
  • Handful of fresh blueberries

Method

Gather together your ingredients. Layout approximately 12cupcake cases or silicone muffin cups on a small baking sheet or tray (this will need to fit in your freezer, so it may be worth checking it for size before you start).

Using a spoon, dollop some yoghurt into the bottom of each cake case until all the yoghurt has gone.

Pop a fewpieces offruit into each cup, pressing them down into the yoghurt with the tip of your finger. Small Childdecided to makefunny faces with his fruit, but you can put them in any way you'd like.

Place thecups (still on thebaking tray) into the freezer and leave to freeze for a couple of hours until set solid.

Once frozen through, remove from the cases and serve (or bag up and pop straight back in the freezer to eat later).

These are great to munch on straight out of the freezeras a healthy snack or dessert,or for a fresh idea for breakfastyou could throw afew into a bowl of granolaor cereal, yum!

You could even pack them in a lunch box - the yoghurt will melt enough to eat with a spoonby lunch time butit will stillbe lovely and cool and make a tastyand healthydessert. Justbesureto pack themin a leak-proof tub or compartmented lunch box like the Yumbox.
